Product Origins

L-5-Hydroxytryptophan (5-HTP) is extracted from the seeds of the Griffonia simplicifolia tree found principally in the West African countries of Ghana, Ivory Coast and Togo.

Product Applications

L-5-Hydroxytryptophan is a naturally occurring amino acid, a precursor to the neurotransmitter serotonin and an intermediate in tryptophan metabolism. It is used primarily as an antidepressant, appetite suppressant, as a sleep aid and for the prevention of migraines.
